Part I. Batch Editing Standard Resource: Bitmap
Resource Tuner Console will let you instantly batch update multiple graphic resources on Windows 32 and 64-bit executable files, or add new ones for several hundred files at once.
The only standard (predefined) graphic resource type is BITMAP. Resource Tuner Console provides the ChangeBitmap procedure to replace or add Bitmaps based on a specified criteria. You can specify whether to add a new Bitmap resource, or replace an existing Bitmap with a new one from a .bmp file.
ResourcesResourcesProxy.ChangeBitmap "THEBITMAP", SrcLng, CREATE_IF_NOT_EXIST, "c:\bitmaps\thebitmap.bmp"
For greater detail, see the Edit Bitmaps sample script. It may be helpful to use this example as a template for your own scripts.
To see the changes made, we recommend using Resource Tuner GUI, a visual resource editor.
Part II. Editing Non-Standard Resources: GIF, PNG, JPEG or AVI
All other graphic resources are non-standard and must be specified by their names. These custom resources are defined by the programmer and are displayed in upper case when viewing with Resource Tuner GUI:
Common data types that might be stored as custom resources are major graphic files (.gif, .png, .jpg), sound (.wav) and video (.avi) files, or binary files (.CAB, etc).
RTC provides the ChangeCustomResource procedure to replace any custom resource based on a specified criteria. You can specify whether to add a new custom resource, or replace an existing resource with a new one from a file.
'Replace GIF file
ResourcesProxy.ChangeCustomResource "DEMO_GIF", "GIF", LangID, CREATE_IF_NOT_EXIST, "replaced.gif"
For greater detail, see the Edit Custom Resource (GIF) sample script. It may be helpful to use this example as a template for your own scripts.
SAMPLE SCRIPTS LIBRARY
Resource Tuner Console comes with the examples that explain basic functionality and demonstrate many of the features available in Resource Tuner Console. Once installed Resorce Tuner Console, you will find the Demo folder in the directory where RTC has been installed. Within this Demo folder, there are 11 subdirectories that contain sample scripts and sample executable files.
All sample scripts are ready to run. Select one of the .BAT files located in the Demo folders to execute the sample script. The script will make changes in the test EXE file. The resulting file will be created in the directory named "Release" under the directory containing the script.
