Resource Tuner Console Helps Developers Automate Editing of Resources in Windows Executables

Resource Tuner Console 1.3 is an easy-to-use command-line tool that facilitates and automates editing of resources in Windows executables for application developers.

Managing and updating different resource types in large numbers of executable files can be time-consuming. Modifying the properties of the executable files such as version information and icons is a manual process that you would rather not have to do every time you build a new release. Resource Tuner Console lets you create a repeatable process for updating and customizing resources at any time you wish to make modifications on existing Windows 32 and 64-bit executable files without needing to recompile the source code, thereby increasing workgroup productivity and maximizing results.

Resource Tuner Console combines a robust resource editor with intelligent script capabilities. Resource Tuner Console allows software developers to quickly change file version information, replace icons, edit any strings, or manage the localized text from previous versions of programs without a single click of the mouse. All these and many other tasks can be done with Resource Tuner Console by having it working with a simple script.

Resource Tuner Console is well suited for integrating into any build system, and takes the drudgery out of manual editing and repetitive tasks. Special resource editing capabilities in Resource Tuner Console 1.3 include replacing PNG compresed Vista icons, placeholders for a more complete way of passing parameters to the generic scripts, support for multi-byte international character sets and multi-lingual resource directories, and attention to icon entry ordering. Developers can also export and save an entire file's resources as a resource DLL, update the checksum in the PE file header, and adjust the TimeDate stamps. For optimal efficiency, developers can reuse the same subroutines or functions many times in different situations, and instantly update existing resources, or add new ones for several hundred files at once.
